We are seeking an experienced content strategist who can elevate us to new heights. Our goal is to deliver a remarkable and seamless user experience on our developer portal. To excel in this role, you must possess exceptional individual performance capabilities as well as effective team leadership and management skills.
Your primary responsibility will be to set the direction and improve the user experience of the devportal in order to achieve our desired business outcomes. This includes ensuring that the website complies with Sony brand policies and legal requirements. You will also be in charge of leading our team of technical writers and marketers to create content, as well as working closely with our web infrastructure team. Additionally, you may be required to manage specific assignments with external agencies as needed.
As an individual contributor, you will play a key role in creating content for our developer programmes, occasionally serving as the content designer for a specific programme. This is a strategic position that will involve collaborating with management to drive the devportal and outreach strategy in alignment with the overall objectives of the group.
- Develop and implement the content strategy for the developer portal
- Ensure compliance with Sony website policies, including content, branding, user data privacy, and social media accounts
- Lead a team of API technical writers and marketers, collaborating closely with Developer Partner Engineers/Advocates and the devportal infrastructure team to maintain a consistent and cohesive developer experience
- Advocate for developer engagement with top managers and stakeholders, emphasizing its importance for their teams
- Plan and execute developer marketing campaigns to drive adoption and generate leads
- Collaborate with product teams to create various types of content, such as developer guides, blog posts, infographics, customer case studies, white papers, videos, code samples, and surveys, to increase awareness and establish thought leadership
- Create compelling content that effectively communicates technical information in a logical and understandable manner
- Ensure all content aligns with the brand's style, quality, and tone of voice, and optimize it for search engines and user experience across all channels, including online, social media, email, mobile, and video
- Develop style guides that define the desired writing style and tone for engaging content
- Continuously monitor the effectiveness of the content strategy, establish key analytics and success metrics, and make necessary refinements as needed
- Strong understanding of the developer audience, device SDKs, REST APIs, and their role in enabling business
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketing and content strategies for developer-focused websites or product portals, with clear goals and objectives
- Proficiency in Content Management Systems (CMS), keyword research tools, social media platforms, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and Search Engine Marketing (SEM)
- Working knowledge of user data privacy policies, website accessibility standards, and company branding policies
- Proven experience creating and editing technical content for various platforms, such as API technical writing.
- Excellent communication skills to communicate content design work, information architecture, and the rationale behind proposals
Candidates are required to provide recent samples of their work that demonstrate their ability to analyze user, client, and project needs, as well as develop and execute relevant content strategies.
- A strong understanding of the entire product development process, including problem solving, information architecture, and content design
- Proficiency in creating content mockups using tools like Figma or similar software
- Hands-on experience collaborating with a team to establish content design standards, frameworks, and a style guide to facilitate scalability
- Familiarity with the Docs-as-code philosophy, utilizing documentation formats such as AsciiDoc, Markdown, Git, and REST API
- Experience in implementing marketing and content strategies, as well as developing associated marketing programs and materials
- Ability to thrive in a multicultural and multi-site corporate environment, with bonus points for experience working with Japanese stakeholders
- Previous experience communicating at a senior manager or director level
