Python Developer with focus on backend

Mjukvaruutvecklare

We are looking for a strong developer with Linux experience for our internally developed CI/CD orchestrator, the Reactor.

In this role, you will:

* Work as a developer in a large Python code base.
* Work closely with our users.
* Deploy and operate the services in production.
* Support our users in their daily use of our services.

The Reactor helps our embedded Linux developers to keep track of all the submit requirements needed for their code changes to be merged into the main line. The Reactor is where they can decide what changes that need to be integrated together, trigger the automatic tests, track the status of the code reviews, and get their changes automatically merged once all the requirements and dependencies are met. Our users are other developers at Axis, which gives us a short feedback loop and cooperative mind-set.

The entire tool chain is Linux based, from your own computer to
the production environments and AXIS OS, the firmware that is used on more than 200 different Axis products.

Examples from the Backlog:

* Feature: Backport/cherry-pick entire integration to release branch.
* Bug: Integration tests sometimes started with unmet dependencies.
* Feature: Visualize all Submit requirements with more details.
* Task: Migrate remaining deployments from containers on a VM to Kubernetes.
* Bug: Open dependencies are sometimes added to the wrong package.

Who is your future team?
We are a Platform Engineering team (R&D Tools), divided into small, highly collaborative, and autonomous sub-teams. You will be part of the Developer Experience (DX) sub-team, together with four other team members. The DX team is a pragmatic team with a focus on solving problems and sharing information. Team discussions are open and inviting where everyone's opinion matters. The DX team owns their own backlog and roadmap and is responsible for the direction of their area.

At R&D Tools we support almost 1000 AXIS OS engineers by offering an Internal Developer Platform to handle the integrations to and daily releases of AXIS OS. Our Internal Developer Platform is built with a mix of open-source software, internally developed tools, and vendor licensed software. We are active in several open-source communities, and we are encouraged to open source our code when possible. We are responsible for keeping our services up and running, answering our users' support requests and developing the features they need. Our culture is characterized by openness, trust and collaboration.

Work/life balance and hanging out with your teammates at common fikas, lunches, and other social activities are important to us and our success. Like the rest of Axis, we do not let ourselves get stuck in rigid processes, but we also realize that large organizations cannot be entirely without processes, and we try hard to draw the line in the right place.

Meet two of our DX Engineers, Frida who shares learnings about making a Backstage plugin open source and Gustaf about the soft aspects of code reviews.

Who are you?
We expect you to be collaborative and have an open, mature and generous attitude. You can communicate with users and understand what is important to be able to meet their needs. You get energy from helping others grow by sharing your knowledge and feedback.

We value experience in the following tech areas:

* Design, develop, test and maintain Python Backend services.
* Package services as Docker images with deployments to Docker hosts or Kubernetes.
* Automating deployments and provisioning with Ansible, Flux or similar.
* Experience in monitoring and logging solutions like Elasticsearch, Datadog or similar.
* Cyber security and hardening of software release pipelines.

That said, a strong software engineer with the right mind-set is more important than having the perfect matching technical background.

We are an office-first organization, so we expect you to be in the office on most days and we highly value in-person collaboration.

What Axis have to offer
At Axis, we provide a global environment where you work with experienced colleagues and have numerous development opportunities. Axis is an organization that values creativity and promotes equal opportunities, teamwork, and openness. With us you will grow both personally and professionally. You will be part of a team of great colleagues that enjoy going to work in the morning. We offer benefits such as flexible working hours, morning fika, Friday cake, bonus programs, fitness allowances, health insurance, and even your own Axis bike.

Yocto Build System Engineer

Mjukvaruutvecklare
Läs mer Aug 19
Are you ready to be part of a Platform Engineering team serving 900 developers with an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) which automates what is required to build, test and release AXIS OS, the embedded Linux distribution that powers our products? If you are passionate about large scale build systems and are looking for the possibility to work with like-minded professionals, then this can be the perfect opportunity for you!

Your future team
You will be part of a Platform Engineering team with 31 software engineers, divided into small, highly collaborative, and autonomous sub-teams. Together with your future colleagues you provide an Internal Developer Platform that is used by Axis developers to create daily releases of AXIS OS, used in over 200 different Axis products. The IDP is built with a mix of open-source software, internally developed tools, and vendor licensed software. We're active in several open-source communities and you're encouraged to contribute to and engage with them.

You and your teammates own the sub-team backlog, and you are responsible for the evolution of your area of responsibility. You are encouraged to explore new ideas and technologies, and your teammates will be available for feedback and support. We are great at what we do, and we are sure you will be inspired by our drive to always improve and learn more. The products you will work on are used by AXIS OS developers every day and you will be challenged and learn much from working close with them to improve their quality of life.

Our culture is characterized by openness, trust, and collaboration. Work/life balance and hanging out with your teammates at common fikas, lunches, and other social activities are important to us and our success. Like the rest of Axis, we don't let ourselves get stuck in rigid processes. Rather, we rely on the Axis Act As One spirit and work closely to achieve our shared goals.

What will you do as a Yocto build system engineer?
You will join a small team of senior developers focusing on developing and maintaining our Yocto based build system. A key selling point for Axis devices is that we run the same operating system, AXIS OS, in all our devices, easing integration in customer and partner systems. You will work in close collaboration with AXIS OS developers to understand their needs and pain points and how the build system can support them in their daily work-life.
This will give you an idea of what you'll be working on:

* Introduce and establish the use of new features that are introduced by the Yocto project
* Keeping AXIS OS updated with Poky releases from Yocto
* Improve cyber and supply chain security
* Work in close cooperation with AXIS OS developers to understand their needs and how we can help them by improving our tools and services
* Identify and resolve technical challenges such as reproducibility, caching, structure of recipes and packages in a build system that is used by 900 developers that triggers around 50k builds any given day
* Contribute to Yocto and other open-source projects.

Who are we looking for/Who are you?
We are looking for an open, creative, and pragmatic problem solver that likes to combine long-term thinking and structure with the here and now that naturally follows from working closely with users. You are motivated by new challenges and are eager to learn, but you also get energy from helping others grow by sharing your knowledge. Like us, you value teamwork and want to contribute to our great team spirit. Finally, you prefer Linux over Windows

We would love to hear that you have:

* University degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification.
* Professional experience from working with Linux build systems
* Solid understanding of software development process and life cycle with focus on Continuous Integration (CI)
* A few years' experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash and Perl

The following qualifications are a plus:

* Hands-on experience from working with Yocto/BitBake/OpenEmbedded
* Knowledge of Linux kernel, device drivers and bootloader configuration
* Experience of open-source contribution
* An understanding of embedded development
* Experience with git and code review tools, e.g. Gerrit

What Axis has to offer!
At Axis you will be able to grow as a developer and use your creativity to experiment and from time to time make mistakes that can be a valuable source of new knowledge. Working with the Internal Developer Platform you will get immediate user feedback. You will work closely with experienced experts, developers and testers that love to overcome technical challenges together. Our culture is characterized by openness, trust, and collaboration. Digital ASIC Packaging Engineer

Läs mer Aug 5
Do you want to work with advanced ASIC development in the forefront of technology? Are you ready to join a team responsible for the very heart of the Axis products - the ARTPEC SoC chip - where your contribution really matters and where team collaboration is the way to success? We are now looking for ASIC Package Engineer to further strengthen our ASIC System team in Lund.

Who is your future team?

The ASIC System team plays an important role in the development of next generations of ARTPEC SoC chips. The team takes an active part in both previous and ongoing ASIC projects as well as monitoring of design flows and technology trends that are crucial for future generations of ARTPEC SoC chips.

Learn more; https://newsroom.axis.com/article/artpec-foundation-quality

The ASIC System team consists of Project Managers, System Architects, and Implementation Engineers. The Implementation team handles Power, Synthesis, STA, Package and much more. Our team is responsible for the overall specification as well as the execution of the ASIC projects. We work in close collaboration with our ASIC vendor, our internal RTL design and verification teams as well as key internal stakeholders to specify and implement the required functionality of the SoC design.

We are a highly skilled and motivated team with a mix of both junior and senior team members. Our strength lies not only in the individual competence of each team member but also in the open working environment and strong collaboration within our team. We are now looking for an ASIC Implementation Engineer to strengthen our team with an ASIC Implementation Engineer with focus on Synthesis/STA.

What you will do as ASIC Package Engineer

The Co-design between the PCB and the ASIC becomes an increasingly important task with the smaller transistor dimensions in the newer technologies. In addition, we also see increases in the speed and bandwidth requirements for many external interfaces. If an ASIC is designed without considering the system impact, it may have significant negative impact on performance.

You will strengthen our ASIC team and bring focus within the area of packaging, including power and signal integrity, to meet the challenges we face going forward.

You will bring knowledge and knowhow about evaluating novel package options, 2.5D and 3D stacking, and package-on-package, as well as tasks in bump-map and ball-map specification and optimization, on die and in package, to meet the SI and PI requirements put on the system.

You will understand how different low power design techniques impact the power integrity of the system. It is helpful to understand low power architecture when looking at the package design. It is beneficial to understand and work with power specifications, including power domains with multi-voltage and DVFS requirements.

You will know the importance about external interfaces that also impact the package design. High-speed interfaces, including DRAM and PCIe, need special consideration. Other interfaces also impact. It is valuable to understand them, and their electrical properties and specifications.

Who are we looking for/Who are you?

You are an analytic and dedicated team player with a strong personal drive and an ability to work both unsupervised and as a part of a team. You enjoy working with package and PI/SI but can also participate in strategy and architectural discussions as well as understand power related topics such as UPF and have a great understanding of RTL code.

You have an ability to create and maintain the needed network for your task including internal stakeholders and external partners.

We'd love to hear that you have/are:

* MSc level in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other equivalent education.
* At least 6 years of work experience.
* Significant experience in internal package
* 2.5D/3D stacking technologies
* Experience in bump map optimization.
* Experience in ball map specification.
* Experience in Power Integrity/Signal Integrity analysis
* High Speed interface knowledge
* Knowledge in floor planning and physical implementation.
* Knowledge in scripting languages (Python, Perl, TCL, Linux Shell scripting etc.)
* Experience in tools such as GiT and Jira
* Communication and presentation skills in English.
* Quality-consciousness.
* Travels may be needed but not required on a frequent basis.

The position is office-based, and you will be located at Axis HQ in Lund, Sweden.
